Thank you very much for your hint! The cause of the problem was the
existance of an inactive/unused network connection which had
automatically been setup by Oracles Virtual Box during installation. It
did not bother me at all when it was not used and was readily available
when I needed it. The pure existance however must have mislead my
router, DHCP Server and/or Whitebear to accept it as the network to go
for. I deleted the connection and Whitebear is now with us again!

Having played around a bit with Whitebear I'd like to say that it works
almost like a clock-work and is very responsive also via a Wlan
connection. For a permanent use though, I should be provided with the
Multilibrary/Custom Browse layout of my Music Collection. Is that
something I could expect in the near future?
