I did try to give a concrete practical justification and would point out that using thumbnails works well on both the hardware controller and the Logitech iPhone App (At least IMO, plus I have never seen any threads complaining that they use thumbnails). Actually, I was aware of it, and it helps, but is not the same thing. I can certainly live with that, esp. if caching isn't supported by the current architecture, but maybe I can plant a seed... :)
