If you just want to see the current state, I think the easiest way is
to install the "Database Query" plugin and run its "TrackStat
Statistics" report. This will show number of unplayed songs, albums and
artists and some other statistics information.
If it's something you need to see often, I don't have a good solution
at the moment.
It's definitely possible to do with Custom Browse, but it would require
manual editing of SQL/XML menu configuration.
