The "hourly 5 min news" just plays the NPR URL http://thin.npr.org/dmg.wax?getNewsCast=true&NPRMediaPref=WM - the same as a Radio station.
When SBS fetches the above URL, it will be translated by NPR into an URL for a specific episode. All I can suggest is to stop SBS and delete the files in the SBS directory Cache/FileCache as that is where intermediate URLs are cached.
