I changed a custom tag on a track, rescanned for 'changed' only, and it all worked fine in a minute or 2. I tried again with a few more changes which didn't seem to 'take' for some reason, but at least custom scan ran, and ran quickly! Have you also done something to the custom browse menus that include custom tags? I may be wrong, but I think they have sped up back to where they were in 7.5.3-4.
