Could you provide some more information about the contents in the
custom tag ? I want to better understand what you want to accomplish
because there is a standard ALBUMSORT tag that usually is used for the
exact purpose you mention.
However, I think the best way to do it with Custom Browse/Custom Scan
plugins would be:
1. Configure Custom Tag scanning module in Custom Scan to scan the
custom tag, basically add it to the "Tags to scan" field
2. Configure Mixed Tag scanning module to run (I think it's already
active by default so you probably doesn't have to do anything in this
step except for running it)
3. In Custom Browse, create a new menu based on the "Mixed Tag" menu
template and change the following parameters:
- Menu name: Set it to the name you want he menu to have, for example
"Strangely sorted Albums"
- Level 1 tag name: ALBUM
- Level 1 tag type: Album
- Level 1 sort tag name: Specify the tag name you configured previously
in Custom Scan in the Custom Tag scanning module.
This should give you a new "Strangely sorted Albums" menu which shows
albums but sorted according to your custom tag.
There are other ways to do this also but it's hard to recommend the
right way without more information about exactly what you want to
represent, but try the above and see if it works as you like. If the
menu doesn't show anything, a recommendation is to install the
"Database Query" plugin and us the "Custom Scan Statistics" query to
see if the tags you have configured in Custom Scan has been scanned
properly.
If you always want albums sorted according to your custom tag it feels
better to just set the ALBUMSORT tag appropriately but I'm guessing
this doesn't work in your setup.
