Squeezeplay crashes immediately so it never gets to show up as an available player. I should have mentioned that I did install as an administrator - I tried installing several different ways... no dice. When it installs it says it's Squeezeplay 7.6.2; this was the .exe available on the LMS 7.7 nightly build link. I tried loading LMS 7.7 on the same PC where I installed Squeezeplay, but got the same failure message. The message faults MSVCR90.DLL, but that DLL is correctly located in the system32 folder and registered. I loaded the latest Java per the instructions on the Wiki.
I believe this is a Windows problem and not the fault of Squeezeplay. My network setup is a Win 7 server hosting LMS 7.7 and two networked PCs running on a gigabit LAN through an ASUS RT-N56U wireless router. The failure message says it's a BEX (Buffer Exception) error. I thought this might be related to Microsoft Net Framework so I did a repair and then a reinstall - same outcome. I'll try running down the suggestion that it might be a blocked firewall issue. It's also possible Windows updates might have removed a needed file - I never trust the update process. I'll report back as I do some more digging. Others on this forum have reported the same problem, but there was no resolution I could find. I really want to keep using Squeeze software - it's a pain to get working, but once it's up and running it's been very reliable for me.
