I had the exact same issue that Adam Spiers and jpetters described, and switching off Flac worked for me. I'm running Triode's Spotify v2.2.0 on Logitech Media Server 7.7.1 on Ubuntu 11.04. My player is a Slim Devices Squeezebox v3.
