I'll play around some more. I was testing the att hotspot but it
didn't work out at our lake house, no reception. So we're going to try
verizon's next. There is no wired high speed at our lake house so we're
trying a hot spot as a solution we can carry back and forth.

I don't know how the second nic gets an ip address. I know the hotspot
is usb connected and uses dhcp to assign addresses. So the usb
connection probably gets the first one. I guess the nic probabaly
requests an address as well and gets the second one. I'll have to look
into the hotspot configuration and see if I can hardwire an ip for the
nic and set the starting address on the hotspot dhcp to start above
it.

I'm using w7 home premium and it's access to the network configuration
is confusing and also seems to be crippled some. Or I just have not
found all the right places to make changes. I know I could not get to
the usb connection and change it to home from public. I did go into
the w7 firewall and set whitebear's exe to be allowed to pass through.
