Are you using the Green spotify icon menu to try to play something?  You
need to use the the Orange one which is enabled by installing the 3rd
party plugin on your LMS server.  To do this you need a server machine
with the LMS server running on it.  You then load the plugin by going to
the settings web page and selecting the plugin tab at the top.  You
should see the 3rd party plugin in the list of recommended plugins,
select it and hit apply.  The server should then restart after asking
you.  You should then go to the settings page and select Spotify from
the advanced tab to enter your premium subscription details.  

If you have done all of that and there are errors when you try to play
from the Orange menu item, then can you look at the server log to see
what the last entries in it are?  This is found from the settings,
information page which has a link to the server log at the bottom.
