After finishing diner I checked out Spotify and ran the self test on the plugin settings page. Load meta data still fails but o wonder o wonder the test stream (Another Day in Paradise, Phil Collins) sounded through my speakers. And now I'm back at listening to Monty Alexander's Live in Holland were I left it 2 days ago...
