Hmm, I should also add some thinking behind why I thought I would keep two copies of everything (one for FLAC, one for mp3). First, if running from a NAS, it will only have limited RAM, hence not transcode smoothly. Second, I could forego streaming (or have a backup) and convert to VBR 0, rather than be limited to a 128kb stream. I will have to weigh the difference in sound quality against playlist management, potentially.
