It's a BIOS limitation, I don't know of a way of detecting it, except
googling your computer name and "137GB limit". 
But 2003 seems a bit early. If you hit the limit: 1. you would be able
to use the drive, not all of it, simply; 2. as your computer should
feature USB 2 (and not the older USB 1 which is unbearably slow), you
should be able to use any modern drive for music storage (I *think* win
xp can't see above 2TB ?) via USB. So it's not a huge problem.
Separating the music disk and the system disk is always a good idea.
