Ah I think we're getting somewhere. I can telnet in to the helper app port (9005) from Subnet 1, but not from Subnet 2. I can access port 9000 from both subnets. I tried changing the port to 9015 and after confirming that the port was open with Netstat I could still only access it via Subnet 1. As the internet connection is in Subnet 2, that will be why the helper app is failing. At least I know where the problem likely lies now, although I don't know how or why one port is accessible (9000) and another is not (9005) when both are open. Any advice?
