I'm not sure what I should look for in the app log. When I try to run
./spotifyd manually I get a bid error on listenfd: address already in
use. So it seems that the helper app is still running. Somehow I don't
get the message that is't not running anymore.

The self test says that no connection can be made to the player.
Different messages occur. Last time it was: Helper app unable to
authenticate player (error: -1)

If I do a reboot of the machine running LMS and perform the self test
again, I get this message: Player did not connect to helper app - check
your firewall allows the helper app to receive incoming connections from
players on the helper app port defined above

I searched on the internet and it seems that people report similar
issues with flac or firewall or dhcp/static. I disabled flac in the LMS
interface. I don't have a firewall on the ubuntu machine and the ip
adress is set to static.

Any more ideas?
