I do have a Squeezebox Touch, but you're right - I don't normally do any
browsing via this, since the album collation and metadata in muso is
"correct" in my terms, but in LMS it's not - because I've edited
attributes in muso and not the underlying tags. Most people will want to
get the tags right and have both LMS and Muso reflect them, so won't be
doing much (if any) attribute editing within muso. It's called a "Synch"
with LMS because it can also push ratings back to LMS, but other than
that you're right it's an Import. 

I'm puzzled how you get duplicate tracks in Muso after editing then
synching - it uses the track file path/name as the key so unless you
have moved tracks physically I don't see how this can happen - could you
send me a screenshot with an example?
