Inguz if run it on a pc , but semi obselete and somewhat tricky to get going , but its more than tone controls is a a complete DRC with EQ. Overs have used brutefir .
Me I make sure I have DRC and tone controls in the hifi :) I consider anything else broken . If you have a varied musical taste you very quickly find albums that need some help . The so called "purist" idea of no tone controls are a bit it silly especially when some buy equipment obviously colour the sound at the same time as they diss tone controls :) But I agree a simple tone control plugin would be great , my kitchen setup is just active speakers and a touch . I suspect that such a plugin would abuse the CPU to some extent , considering the low power platforms some tries to run the server on this had not happend .
