What kind of menus? I, too, have an issue where it can sometimes take a while until the main menu gets loaded from the server (all menus except iPeng's own ones are missing), but it's never for minutes, always like 30s or so. I'm seeing this since I use LMS 7.8, I'll check whether using the menu retrieval code from iPeng UE (which is a bit different) helps.
