I didn't regret it.
It's certainly something you have to get used to if you liked the old
iOS design but after 6 years that just looked soooo old fashioned to
me.
It's not as bad on iPad 3 as I originally thought since Apple left out a
lot of the really heavy stuff on the older iPads, like the blur effects
which can be difficult for developers to handle since they can _really_
kill performance when stacked up, but that's a problem of the newer
devices and developers only :)

Of course, nothing's perfect. Like everything else it has it's
tradeoffs. As a German I'm not convinced that a preference for text
buttons over icons is always the right choice (putting "Bearbeiten" and
"Abbrechen" along with "Wiedergabeliste" into one header is somewhat
different from "Edit", "Cancel" and "Playlist" and it will certainly
take a while until developers and designers have developed the necessary
design language to do a variety of looks under iOS 7 but already now
whenever I see a wooden background in an App I get "MS-Bob-Horror".

And since 7.0.3 it's back to the biggest virtue I already experienced
during the beta phase: the power management is just soooo much better;
my iPhone almost lasts twice as long as under iOS 6.
