What are your exact settings in LMS? If the folder doesn't exist (or is not writable by the plugin), then it'll use a sub-folder in your LMS cache folder.
also which addictional features can i have if i upgrade to 7.8?
Biggest difference probably is support for artist artwork and local artwork files in a music folder.
