I have successfully used Stream IT (not Stream IT Pro) on my Lumia to connect to the SlimServer mp3 stream using http://servername:9000/stream.mp3, and it plays in the background allowing me to switch back to Soundicity to control it (the stream appears as a new player in Soundicity). The only problem is that the streaming buffer is too large (nearly two minutes) which means that skipping a track in Soundicity doesn't take effect until all the music in the Stream IT buffer has played. I don't know if there is an mp3 stream SDK for WP8 but if there is then this would be a simple way to incorporate playback (from local servers at least) in Soundicity. The skip/buffer issue could be solved by either reducing the buffer size (if the SDK allows this) or by having Soundicity restart the streaming on any skip action.
