Try running it from the command line to see if you have any errors.:

That is what you will see for a working helper. If it does not run try
fixing your installation and compile your own version.
Before you run the 'apt-get install' run 'apt-get update' and also run
'apt-get install -f' to resolve any previous dependencies that were
missed.
