I can get an error very similar to your log if there is no recording devices setup. Have you checked the Control Panel / Manage Audio devices and ensured that the "Stereo Mix" / "What U hear" / "Wave Out Mix" / "Audio Mix" / "Wave" (or whatever the copy audio facility is called on your system device) is enabled ?
