Sorry I used 'crossfade' in the wrong context. I checked settings, and as I suspected I have crossfade turned off on all of my players. I do not use any streaming music services along with my local files. In the advanced settings for Smart Mix I have selected only Local Music Files. In the advanced settings for the player I checked the smart mix settings and found that Music Sources was set to Music Services and local files. I changed that to Local Music files. This evening I did not hear the same premature fade from one song to another.
