That setting tells you that the server will pre-cache artwork for iPeng.
There's a server feature that allows Apps to register the artwork sizes
they use for pre-caching (since 7.8). This means the thumbnails are
already being created by the scanner so the server doesn't have to do
this when they are being used the first time which can improve
performance quite a bit.

The checkbox is to delete a set of artwork when you no longer use an
App. For example, if you do have a non-retina iPad or you use iPeng 2.x
on an iPhone it will use 150x150 artwork. If you then update to a newer
iPad or you switch from iPeng 2 to iPeng 7 on the iPhone you would no
longer need the 150x150 artwork so you can save some space and scanning
time by removing them.
