@snoogly: you may try to use a simple USB-Stick to access some media
files and see if the same strange issue appears again. Althrough I don't
think your ODROID is broken, you will find out if the problem is caused
by your USB-Drives or by the ODROID itsself.

yes - just have a look at the webinterface to configure LMS and
squeezelite

The headphone jack of the odroid delivers quite good music output. But
if you want to use a DAC, it's possible. I tested the created XFI and
Logilink for 5.1 Sourround in XBMC and some other people from this forum
tested other DACs (you may have a look at the other posts). You can
change the output settings in the advanced squeezelite settings in the
webinterface (adjust bitrate, output device and command line options).
