Custom Scan was updated about a year ago last time, Custom Browse was
updated during summer 2014, so the issues are probably related to some
change in LMS 7.9. 

If you goto LMS Settings/Advanced/Logging and enable "info" level
logging on "plugin.customscan" it might be possible to see what's
triggering the scan and which parts that takes time from LMS server.log
file.
