No, it wouldn't. LMS simply doesn't support transcoding of remote streams to PCM, no matter of the format, it only supports transcoding to MP3 and FLAC. It's different from local files (where you have many more options). I am not sure why that is but my guess is it has to do with the protocol handler timing. The server needs to communicate the format of the stream to the player in advance for PCM because PCM doesn't contain any format information but it only knows the format after interpreting part of the stream.
The proxied streaming option in ickStream is essentially the same one the server already has (confusingly called "mo3 streaming method"), we apply it by default because the buffers in the Squeezeboxes, especially the old ones, are pretty small and it was difficult to get a stable stream with the lossless services with direct streaming. This is probably not going to get better with HD formats. That said: at least TIDAL has done a lot of work recently to improve their CDN to get stream reliability up. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97146 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
