oh well, this is LMS-logic as I understand it: codecs can be
pcm,mp3,flc,aac and aif ... although pcm and aif are uncompressed not a
'codec' as such.
I don't think there is any support of aif-compress format but I will
re-check.

if pcm codec is chosen, LMS only sends raw pcm audio. The only variable
is the byte order that depends on the original file format.

use case is: your player supports more sample rate and size when using
raw pcm but your LMS files are sends. If you let sq2u decide, it will
choose wav because there is one less byte-re-ordering but some playback
might fail because it is sent in wav and the player trips. So you want
to make sure that pcm will be used FIRST if available in the player.

In fact, I left these options after our discussion to give user
flexibiliity (at the expense of some complexity). Obviously I failed :)
