Hi folks - I am new here so be gentle!

I am pretty much a noob on matters linux - but have recently managed set
up 3 raspberry P1 2 mini computers running a Max2Play based, 3 room
streaming audio system working over WiFi network.
Setup of all three players is identical. All running the latest Max2Play
versions
All was working fine initially.

However - I am having a strange issue with only ONE of the three
players. (Apparently after an apt-get update/upgrade, but not absolutely
certain that was the cause - I just noticed it then)

One of them wont play low bitrate / sampling rate mp3s at the correct
speed - low bitrate/sampling rate files are played too fast (I assume in
the ratio of the sample rates) The other two players are fine.

I have started again with a fresh Max2Play installation on the "broken"
Pi, everything is working as before (getting excellent sound from
IQaudIO PiDAC+) - BUT the same problem is happening with playback
speeds.

Now it gets really weird: I then swapped out the SD Card from the
"broken" Pi with a card from a "working" Pi.
The playback issue stayed with the physical HARDWARE - I didn't think
that was possible - I assumed EVERYTHING was initialised after power
down.
Is there any way a Pi could retain information about audio / ALSA setup
after power is removed and a new OS booted?

Does this suggest I have a defective Pi or can anyone give me any ideas
of how to proceed here.

Thanks

FG
