Sorry I missed your post. About the logfile, I did not change anything recently so I can't think of an explanation. About the audio noise, there is nothing strange in the log and that's the issue with pcm: no error checking, no header, no packets, just plain set of bytes and if for any reason there is a miss, even a one byte offset on 24 bits format ends up really bad. I cannot re sync like with flac or mp3. Some methods could work like power calculation or fft to detect anomaly if it is between LMS and sq2u, but it is a lot of processing for, I hope, an extremely rare event.
