BBC haven't announced DASH is available for BBCiPlayer Listen Again and also that the Dash live streams aren't being published which means it current DASH is not official and is being trialled for vendors who want to provide DASH support. This is a good thing compared to the debacle in Feb. Perhaps this is tied into BBCiPlayer TV announced support of HTML5 and Dash. When my Chrome browser playing BBC Radio stream stops using Flash/HDS - then I know BBC have made Dash public. By having 320k stream only on DASH means BBC could be trying to move user onto a international standard rather than a proprietary Apple standard which changes sorry upgraded at Apple's whim to support their latest products. DASH is better than current HLS (and HDS and Flash) for BBC because it supports mulitple bitrates within the single URL selectable by user (or possibly by player) depending on network load (i.e. too many network delays and speed drops to avoid rebuffer - you may have seen this on Netflix) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
