You have a chain LMS- BBCiPlayer plugin - Squeeze2upnp player - Sonos You can log the BBCiPLayer HLS comms to BBC using WebGUI/Setting/Advanced/Logging/plugin.bbciplayer.hls to Info - this will indicate whether LMS is still feed audio to Squeeze2uPNP. This can be enabled at any time, You can enable Squeeze2uPNP player logging via the Squeeze2UNP plugin settings and the flag to add follows this -d <log>=<level>\tSet logging level, logs: all|slimproto|stream|decode|output|web|upnp|main|sq2mr and level can be Info debug or sdebug so I'd guess . -d upnp=debug would enable UPNP logging between squeeze2upnp and UPNP device such as SONOS. This flag only takes effect when squeeze2upp is started. What you want to see when there is silence if there is any activity between various apps.
