Ok, I know what the problem is. In the discovery packet that I send, I actually do request the IP address. I had no idea what that part of the request was for before, I just looked at what squeezeboxes send and sent the same thing. Since none of my servers had IP's set, I never encountered a returned IP, so the app is interpreting the IP as a name.
