I had a problem with this but found that it was down to Spotify having two levels of artist status. Some are just in the list others are in the list and also "followed". Only the latter will show up in your artist list in the LMS app. If I add an artist to LMS it appears on both. Not yet worked out how to "follow" on Spotify on my phone though!
