shug72, the analogue audio outputs on the Pi don't sound that good, they're not meant to be hifi quality. You could add something like the HifiBerry DAC which is a board that plugs onto the Pi IO connector and provides a high quality DAC, though exactly how good it is I don't know. They have various quality levels, metal cases etc. There must be other companies selling the same sort of thing, looks like a neat solution.
