We've been doing this for our experimental iOS controller App for ickStream but it's quite difficult for LMS since it would require quite a bit of change in how albums/artists etc are being handled. The menus returned by the service plugins are completely content agnostic so nobody except for the backend service (or plugin) even knows something is an album or artist
Yes, this would need to be implemented in the "apps" on the server side. It's available for a few services, but not all of them. I've added the request to my notes. But unfortunately it's not high on my priorities list.
