I had this issue a while back, I tracked it down to the update that
introduced 'Dynamic Path Conversion' - I ended up enabling it and
working out what all the paths were and it worked, this was on a WHS. I
have since moved everything onto a new server when the motherboard died,
this time a Win 10 server, no DPC enabled and everything is running
fine.
