I came to the conclusion a while ago that my QNAP was no longer the place to run LMS. I am currently using an old Dell server running Vortexbox for LMS but have kept the music files on the QNAP. I have also built a few Raspberry Pi based servers with piCorePlayer or max2play running LMS but still with music on QNAP. Such a Pi based LMS will become my production server shortly. Given the dependency issues you get with a QNAP you may wish to consider a Pi for LMS but files on the NAS. It's easy to do and removes all the QNAP related headaches.
