I'm back to my Zipp mini. Installed the plugin version 0.2.0.1, removed players audio delays that were formely needed, and bingo, I've got the zipp and a Loop to play in sync. Bidirectional control works fine. My zipp mini seems happy with the plugin.
I cold-started the whole network: servers, AP, and audio devices. Discovery went fine. On my network and LMS there is no upnp/chromecast stuff (that I know of). There is one or two itunes/OSX instances that I almost never use for audio. There are 2 ipads, sometimes an iphone.
