Plum Private Beta 5 available for download

CHANGES

Well it's been four and a half months since Private Beta 4 dropped, but
we've been busy little beavers. This new Private Beta 5 release has
completely new internals and we've answered a ton of feature enhancement
requests, bug fixes, etc. We've also completely redesigned the help system,
so now it's a consolidated compiled help file, just like the big boys.

Because so much has changed in Plum's internals, you'll probably find a
whole new set of bugs for us to fix. Don't be alarmed; in many ways this is
like a brand new product, but the changes we've made make solving problems
faster and easier without affecting other parts of the application, which
had always been our big problem in the past.

Make sure to delete all of your previous Plum installers, applications built
with Plum, project files, framework code, Plum custom tag editors and help
files (in your HomeSite directory), and help files before installing Private
Beta 5. You can't use any of them with this new release.

CONTACTING US

Please put your Build Number in any correspondence to the Plum Discussion
List. This is so we can make sure you are not reporting a bug from an
earlier release.

You can find your Build Number by choosing About Plum IDE from the Help menu
and taking the number after the last dot in the release version. For
example, the release you are about to download is Plum IDE v1.0.752, so the
Build Number is 752.

Please don't email us directly regarding issues you have with Plum. Please
direct *all* discussion regarding Plum to the Plum Discussion List
([email protected]) so others can participate. We'll contact
you back via phone if we need to.

BETA CYCLE

This Beta cycle will last through the end of August, and you will need a new
License Key. To get your License Key for this Beta cycle, go to
http://www.productivityenhancement.com/ExtendTrial.cfm and fill out the
form. We'll issue you your License Key as soon as possible. We're checking
regularly over the weekend, but it might be an hour or two during waking
hours before we can fulfil your request.

ADDITIONAL RELEASES DURING THIS BETA CYCLE

If we need to release a new build during this Beta cycle then all you will
need to do is download the new installer and install it over your current
version. You can continue to use the Private Beta 5 License Key you receive
for Build 752, and your .plum project files from Build 752 will continue to
work. You may need to choose a command from the Utilities menu after
installation, but we'll include any instructions in the release notes.

KNOWN ISSUES TO BE FIXED IN THE NEXT RELEASE:

* Private Beta 5 does not work with Oracle 9.2 or later.

* Only some of the tutorials are finished (they're in the Help).

* The help file is incomplete in some places.

* Some of the custom tag documentation doesn't detail the new attributes
that have been added.

* Custom tag editors do not yet accommodate new attributes that have been
added to the custom tags.

Thanks for all your help in testing Plum! :)

Respectfully,
