Plum requires a ColdFusion Server mapping, and there's no practical way
around that. Shared hosts that don't allow you to have your own mapping
should be avoided, because there is no reason whatsoever for a host to
disallow mappings.

I went over all the shared host issues with major ColdFusion shared hosting
providers at the very beginning of the Plum development effort to make sure
we were not requiring anything out of the ordinary for a ColdFusion
application that does the kinds of things Plum does (Verity, file
operations, etc), and came to the conclusion that there were enough
major-name large-sized shared hosts around that allowed you to use Verity,
read files, and have a single ColdFusion Server mapping. If your shared
host won't allow these few reasonable things, how are you able to host more
than a trivial ColdFusion application there?

I'm going to start putting together a list of Plum-friendly shared hosting
companies. I'll let everyone know when it's ready.
