Plum will be free and fully functional in every way without any crippling or
restrictions of any kind, but the small ad you see in the lower left corner
below the tree control will appear. It will rotate every minute and the
selection of ads will change every month. For now the ads are just for our
services and training, and I don't forsee a time when we'd make any real
revenue off Plum ad space sold to other companies.

If a developer wants to contribute $79.95 to the Plum development effort,
we'll issue him or her a License Key that makes the ad disappear as a way of
saying "Thanks," but the License Key makes no changes to Plum itself (it
doesn't have to, because everything is already enabled).

We're going to have free support via the Plum Discussion List and our online
Troubleshooting Wizard that is soon to be launched, but we're also going to
make telephone support available for $495 per year for corporate clients who
want instant support for critical apps. I don't forsee the need for it,
really, but some may want it so we're going to offer it.

We figured that this is the most friendly approach we could take, and that
it supported the developer community without being greedy. We think it's
both sensible and reasonable, and we hope everyone else does, too.

Respectfully,

Adam Phillip Churvis
