Hi Mark,

Interestingly enough, I was just up there looking at FarCry myself
yesterday. We just launched a largish Plum app that has close to 1000 docs
in the CMS that are all in a SQL Server database. While it works, it has
been painful at times. I think the Plum CMS works great for small to
mid-size sites (which is what it is really meant for in it's current state),
but it is painful to work around issues like dynamic menus, new doc creation
etc.

>From what I saw, I would think that it would be a mistake to try to marry
the two. FarCry has it's own framework, core api, and backend, and I think
if you went that route for a project, you would be better off not trying to
marry the two together. FarCry looks like it has a significant learning
curve for new developers, but a lot of developers have good things to say
about it if you are into that type of environment.

Maybe Adam or David can chime in, but I don't think it would be wise to go
down that path, personally.

This would be one area I would like to see improved upon in Plum. Maybe if
the we have the 'Gathering of Plums' meeting in preparation for the next
round, we can talk about this. I would personally like to see document
checkouts, on-the-fly page creation (new templates), menu generation etc.
built into the core CMS functionality. It doesn't need to compete with the
full-fledged CMS apps out there, but it could stand some improvement, IMO.

Subject: [plum] FarCry

Has anyone integrated FarCry for content management within Plum? I would be
interested in using farcry for the front end and Plum for the application in
the backend. Would that work, or would thay start interfering with each
other?

Thanks,

Mark Fuqua
