Hello guys,
in the spare time gathered in last weeks, i've been able to work to a new
'thing', a
frontend tool, written in PHP, to present network statistics read from a
PostgreSQL
database. The name pushed by my great imagination is: 'pmacct-fe'. The tool is
not
yet public; but it will be in next couple of days. So, feel free to download and
evaluate it but do not advertise its URL.

The whole picture should resemble like the following picture:
http://www.ba.cnr.it/~paolo/pmacct-fe/architecture.jpg

As you can see the architecture is fully modular. Who is interested in it can
give
an eye to the following page (there are also a pair of screenshots):
http://www.ba.cnr.it/~paolo/pmacct-fe/

'pmacct-fe is a frontend tool for presenting network statistics in tables and
plots.
It works by reading aggregates stored into a PostgreSQL database by pmacct.
Features
include user authentication and capabilities, support for multiple observation
points
and customizable report types.'

I'm not a PHP programmer; this has been the first time i've done something
meaningful
with it. However i should have avoided the ugly pitfalls that load everyday the
Bugtraq
mailing-list. I think that few things will be urgent: a) more report types, b)
try to
get things less confusing for who is not skilled with neither pmacct nor Horde.

Any comment, critics and advice is welcome, as usual. If any skilled and
volenterous
PHP programmer is reading ... any help will be much appreciated.

We should try to not bother too much who is not interested in this tool. Thus,
comments
of general interest can follow here; the 'my PHP 5 does not like your silly
code' go on
my personal email address along with the 'go back to your job and stop
bothering me with
such stupid tools' :)

Cheers,
Paolo
