Can you somewhat raise that limit? Depending on the machine architecture and support for IPv6/64bit counters, the memory table can eat more space. Try setting it to, say, 64-96MB and see whether it works and how much space they (the 2 tables) actually take just starting up. If this should not work, just let me know as I should be able to get access to a MacOSX box.
