Peter,

I don't know the settings of the MS4W installation. But when PHP is run 
as Apache module under Windows one has to load the mapscript extension 
anyway via the php.ini. In this case the setting 'msVersion' in the 
config.ini of p.mapper has no effect.

p.mapper just loads the extension via 'dl()' if it is not already loaded 
via the php.ini. This is also possible on Unix but not required, at 
least not for Apache 1.3 or Apache 2 prefork.
