Chris,
try this, if you have not done it, in the geometry field of your .ovf file,
replace "x" and "y" with the name of the columns of the waarnemingen table
that represents the xcoord and ycoord respectively, e.g.:
<GeometryField encoding="PointFromColumns" x="longitude" y="latitude"/>
