I lived there for 3 years too, I love these mountains. > So I could use it for hiking in the mountains. I think a print > function in A3 is needed for p.mapper! Unfortunately there seems to be > no ortho photo or a scan of the IGN. Maybe that will be added later? It's possible, but the customer didn't give us the maps, this is a joint Italy-Switzerland project and they have had a lot of troubles obtaining the maps. Future improvements could be GPS tracks download and a routing module, but I don't know if they will have fundings for that. Some technical info: Raster map is 1.5GB GEOTIFF with internal tiles and overviews Resource and itineraries vectors are in POSTGIS tables, the latter being an arc<->node M2M network Other vectors are in shapefile format, some of them are quite heavy: level curves are over 700MB. Hardware is double XEON 3GHz with 4GB RAM and SCSI disk. Performaces are lower than I expected, this is mainly due to the huge raster and POSTGIS vectors being slow despite proper indexing. This is the reason why most layers are off by default.
