Just take your old config.ini and rename it to config_default.ini. Splitting up to config_common.ini and config_xyz.ini is just necessary if you want to use multiple configurations that share the main common settings.
There is a 'config_default_template_full.ini' that can be used as the base for it and be renamed to config_default.ini. Then just delete config_common.ini. This file specifies where to look for the other config files.
